Some of our regular programs which we had executed at specific time over an extended period include the following:-
- We facilitated at a workshop for church leaders in July 2002 in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria. The central focus was on “: the Church’s response to HIV/AIDS” with emphasis on care of those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS, orphans and the vulnerable children
- We presented a paper on the same subject as above in a Conference of Church leaders in September, 2002 in Gboko, Benue State, Nigeria.
- We published a booklet on Peace in September, 2003 on Information, Education and Communication material (IEC). It was distributed through out Benue State, Nigeria and beyond.
- We had a weekly teaching program over the Public Radio network of the Benue State Government. This was in operation from January 2005 to June 2006.
- Support for OVC: Our practical support for the orphans and vulnerable children over these years has been very limited and random due to lack of needed financial and material resources.
This support consisted of:
- Counseling services (a psycho-social
support).
- Raising needs’ awareness among the
privileged members of the Church communities.
- Distributing received charities (foods,
fairly used clothes, money for Health care needs, school supplies,
water purification products and other subsistence) among the most
vulnerable.
- Sites for these services have been homes in Church based communities.
The limited resources available to
us is responsible for our inability to render comprehensive services
to the orphans and vulnerable children, widows and carry out our
spiritual mandate. Lack of adequate resources also
affect our physical development efforts aimed at providing
structures and equipment that will ensure success, continuity,
funding needs, and logistic (vehicular) support for efficient
services.click Here for more services
